Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the Rail Enforcement Unit was an effective deterrent against vandalism, and they hope the Unit will soon be re-established. This is after a preliminary agreement was reached between the City’s Safety and Security directorate and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa. Hill-Lewis says the Unit will be supported by drones and the Eye-in-the-Sky digital surveillance and evidence management system.
