Digital parenting: Fostering a safer Internet for your child

Published on

This week we observe Safer Internet Day. With technology moving as fast as it is you might feel a bit overwhelmed when it comes to what you, and particularly your children, might be exposed to. Dean McCoubrey, founder of MySociaLife, specialises in educating parents, kids, teens, schools, and even medical health professionals in this space.

Some of the apps that may be of interest to you to help in monitoring your child’s safety include FYI PlayitSafe and Qustodio. MySocialife has also launched South Africa’s first Digital Parenting Club.

“This is more than just an initiative; it’s a call for parents to take the helm, armed with knowledge and empathy, to steer their children towards a future where digital technology amplifies potential rather than diminishes it. “

The Club seeks to educate parents and safeguard teens and pre-teens while navigating the Internet that their children are exposed to daily.
