The Presidency has confirmed that the countrywide deployment of the national army has been extended to 13 September.

The extension is valid from 13 August to 13 September and will see 10,00 soldiers to service across the country, to assist the police in combating crime.

The extension will cost around R255-million.

Ramaphosa last month gave permission for the deployment of 25,000 soldiers, from July 12 to August 12, following the protests and looting in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
