There may still be delays at Cape Town International Airport as airlines recover their schedules following an incident there on Tuesday.
Several planes scheduled to arrive at the airport that afternoon had to be diverted following an incident on the tarmac.
The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) noted that a Kenya Airways aircraft experienced a tyre failure during landing at around 15h25. This left the aircraft disabled on the airport’s primary runway.
As a result, some operations had to be put on hold, with reports of more than 20 flights that had to be diverted.
“Domestic departures continue to operate, while wide-body departures are temporarily unable to operate until normal runway operations are restored,” read a statement by ACSA.

Around 19:00, ACSA advised that normal runway operations resumed. It further urged travellers to follow up on the latest information on their flight.
