While you’re #NotInParis and looking for place to watch the 2023 Rugby World Cup final, the City of Cape Town has got you covered.
The Springboks are set to take on the All Blacks at the Stade de France, in Paris, this Saturday. This final is especially significant, as this is the first time South Africa and New Zealand are going head to head in the Rugby World Cup final since 1995.
Both teams – among the most decorated winners in Rugby World Cup history – are playing for their fourth world cup win this year round. South Africa left the rugby pitch in 1995, 2007 and 2019 as victors of the tournament, while New Zealand took the trophy in 1987, 2011 and 2015.

This weekend’s final kicks off at 21:00, South African time – giving us a full day to prepare and warm up ahead of the showdown.
Sometimes, watching a game at home with one or two other people lacks the kind of gees you need, so a crowd of fond strangers may be just what rugby fan in you ordered.
There are three sites across the city where members of the public can watch the game:
- Bree Street, CBD: Road closures will be in place from Wale to Strand Street and Loop to Buitengracht Street (as well as all the little roads in between).
- Monwabisi Sport and Recreation Centre, Langa
- Westridge Civic Centre, Mitchells Plain
The venues will open at 17:00, and visitors can expect a proper supporter warm-up with DJs and all the gees ahead of the game. The match will be live streamed on big screens.
While having fun is the main priority, safety of all those attending has to be ensured. The City’s Safety and Security Directorate says enforcement and rescue services will be on site, so that all things go according to plan.
