Cape Town will soon publish documents detailing its upcoming procurement of power from IPPs

Published on

Mayor Geordhin Hill-Lewis says the City will soon publish documents detailing its upcoming procurement of power from independent power producers.

He says this will include the announcement of tenders for the purchase of electricity from IPPs and timelines for bringing IPP-generated electricity onto the City’s supply network.

This as the country is again hit with Stage 2 loadshedding.

The City says it is able to protect its electricity customers to some extent, as Stage 1 is currently being implemented until 10pm.

Stage 2 loadshedding comes into effect from 10pm to 6am.
