Cape Town Police confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R1 million in Parow. Officers from the Anti-Economical and Extortion Task Team carried out the arrests in the early hours of this morning.

 

Cape Town Police confiscated drugs

 

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says the police had followed up information about a possible distribution point for drugs. A multi-disciplinary team, in the early morning hours, responded to the intelligence gathered and approached a residence in Parow. Swartbooi says upon entering the house, a search was carried out.

 

A foreign national was detained

 

There, officers recovered a consignment of drugs with an estimated street value of R1 million. At the same time, a 42-year-old foreign national was detained. He is facing a charge of dealing in drugs.

 

The fight against illegal drugs

 

Swartbooi says the raid formed part of plans to root out the illegal trade of drugs in the Province. He says officers are committed to fighting against the dealing and use of drugs in the Western Cape.

The suspect will appear in court soon, once charged. He will make an appearance in the Parow Magistrate’s Court.
