A 56-year-old suspect who was arrested in Cape Town on Monday, 7 July, for allegedly inciting violence against black individuals on social media, has made his first court appearance.
An alleged racist was arrested in Cape Town
Cameron Baya was detained after an international agency alerted the Hawks’ Crimes Against the State Unit to the man. He had allegedly made racial and violent comments on social media in March.

Alleged Racism: Contravention of the Cybercrimes Act
According to the Hawks, Baya also allegedly expressed his intent to provoke a race war.
The alleged racist is in court today
He was charged with the Contravention of the Cybercrimes Act and for contravening the Riotous Assemblies Act and appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 8 July.
Baya was released on R1000 bail.
The matter was postponed to 16 September for further investigation.
