Boots to Fall in love with this Season

Published on

New season new boots

Every two or three years I finally have enough courage saved up to spend some hard-earned money on a new pair of boots! My last pair was an over-the-knee pair I bought during my Miss Free State reign. I absolutely adored them when they gained popularity in South Africa in 2015/2016 and I had to get my hands on a pair.

Colder weather is a perfect time to explore new boots options. However, when you visit any of the online retailers or your favourite mall, it can be very overwhelming to decide which one you should buy.

Your best chance at success is to determine the one you like, obviously. But also consider the size and length of your legs. The brutal truth is that some styles just look better on certain body types.

Tall people tend to have an easier time selecting boots that look good. But in my opinion, wearing a boot that reaches the top of your knee, you might look even taller and that might not be your objective (speaking from experience with my taller girl-friends). The same holds true for those with bigger ankles, you need to feel comfortable and an ankle boot might just annoy or hurt you if it chafes your ankle throughout the day.

Don’t forget the winter rainfall in Cape Town! Suede is not gonna be your best bet, especially if you’re planning on buying an expensive pair!

Let me help you out

I’ll be adding these boots to my cart this Autumn.

Cowboy tall boots

Not like cowboy-cowboy boots from the West, more cowboy-inspired boots. I think it’s the pointy toe that I really like! Personally, I’ll opt for the all-black one. Confession-time: black is the main colour you’ll see throughout my recommendations.

Track sole boots

These are growing on me. When Kanye West launched his first Yeezy shoe in early 2015 I was very hesitant. These moon shoes give me moving-to-Mars-vibes with Elon Musk. But mark my words, in order to plow the dirt on Mars these will be compulsory to wear so you might as well stock up now. Not sure if I’m considering them because of Mars or because everyone is wearing them. Probably the latter.

I am not so sure…

Even though I have days where I wish I could pull off each and every one of these new trendy styles. I just know that this tiny thin heel is one I’ll never wear. Not sure if it’s the awkward length of the boot reaching your shin, or if it’s the look of the actual heel. Either way, my average legs won’t be accommodating.

Black ankle boots

Now here we go! I already own one of these but there are so many styles out there. I am keen to get a second. They are so versatile. Stockings and a skirt, check. Denim, check. Winter dress, check. Basically, any body type, CHECK! Channel your, inner madam, with these pointy boots
