A heartwarming story has emerged from the aftermath of the anti-immigration protests that swept parts of South Africa in late June, with a Malawian man finally reunited with his beloved dog after a cross-border effort spanning hundreds of kilometres. Stephen Singini was among many foreign nationals who fled St Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape during the unrest. Singini had worked as a steel worker and carpenter for many years in the region.

A suspected act of theft and vandalism on Eskom infrastructure in Khayelitsha has claimed the life of a member of the public and left more than 18,000 customers without electricity. According to Eskom, the incident occurred at around 8 pm on Sunday evening.
