Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula says he wants answers from SANRAL’s board as to why 5 tenders valued at over R17 billion have been canceled. These contracts were for road re-construction projects in KZN and the Eastern Cape after the devastating floods last month. The reasons for the canceled contracts have not been identified but opposition parties have requested clarity. SANRAL says there were material irregularities with the tenders, but Mbalula wants answers.
