Along with banana bread and homemade pizza, Dalgona coffee has become one of the hottest (or coolest) things to make during the Coronavirus lockdown. It’s creamy, frothy, delicious, and it uses items you may already have on hand: instant coffee, sugar and milk. You’ll just need a bowl and a hand blender or a whisk, and you’re on your way.
Step 1: Let’s get the ingredients. 1 Tablespoon of Instant coffee (normal or decaf), 1 tablespoon of sugar or sugar substitute, like Xylitol in my case, 1 tablespoon of water and milk (dairy or nut milk) and a beater or hand blender, or whisk serious muscle power.
Step 2: Add the instant coffee, sugar and water to a bowl and whisk vigorously (or use a hand blender if you have one to make it a much easier process) until the mixture becomes super thick. It should hold a similar consistency to whipped cream with somewhat stiff peaks; and turns a subtle golden-brown colour.
Step 3: Pour milk into a glass filled with ice cubes.
Step 4: Scoop the pillowy mixture on top of the cold milk or mix the two parts together if you’re looking for more of a latte situation.
Step 5: Photograph it’s prettiness and enjoy!
