The Department of Tourism says applications for its Tourism Relief Fund are now open, and calls upon small and medium-sized tourism businesses to submit their applications as soon as possible.

The Department allocated R 200-million to be distributed to tourism SMMEs, to ensure their survival during the national lockdown.

Minister of Tourism, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, says the financial assistance is capped at R50 000 per entity, and adds that the grant funding can be utilized to subsidize expenses towards fixed costs, operational costs, supplies and other pressure cost items.

Applications can be submitted via the Department of Tourism website.

The application period runs from 07 April to 30 May 2020.
