An organisation representing South African liquor traders has written to President Cyril Ramaphosa, requesting a meeting with the Presidency over Covid-19 related restrictions as the third wave of the pandemic gathers pace.

At the beginning of the pandemic last year, the government introduced restrictions on the sale of alcohol for consumption, which presented a challenge for producers, retailers, traders, clubs, bars, and restaurants. The National Liquor Traders Council wants a meeting with the president to discuss how to ‘sustainably’ handle the third wave.
