After more than 12.3-million South African voters cast their ballots on Monday, the ANC walked away the biggest winner, managing to scoop control of 161 of the country’s municipalities.

The country’s main opposition party, the Democratic Alliance managed to secure control of 13 municipalities. The Inkhata Freedom Party secured a majority in a total of 10 municipalities. IEC chairperson, Glen Mashinini says a total of 66 municipalities are deemed as hung councils.
