After 20 Years on the Run, Former Police Captain Arrested for Sexual Crimes

Published on

Milnerton South African Police Services (SAPS) officers brought an end to more than two decades of evasion by a 54-year-old man yesterday.

Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk says the suspect, a former police captain wanted since 2002 for multiple serious cases, including rape and sexual assault, had managed to evade justice despite numerous warrants issued in Nelspruit, Secunda, and Middleburg.

“Despite the extensive list of allegations against him, he managed to remain hidden, quietly living in Table View far from the towns where the cases originated. For years he slipped through the cracks, avoiding detection and evading accountability. That changed this week.”

The suspect is expected to appear in the Cape Town Regional Court today.
