Africa’s Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant is in Cape Town. The Mother City has clinched yet another top award. This time, a Cape Town restaurant has won the Africa’s Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant Award at the fifth annual World Culinary Awards.

Siba: The Restaurant is the brainchild of South African celebrated and much-loved TV chef, Siba Mtongana. It is located in the Luxury Table Bay Hotel on the Waterfront. The Table Bay Hotel General Manager Joanne Selby says Siba is extraordinarily talented.
“We are extremely proud that she has chosen to partner with us,” she added.
Selby added that they salute and celebrate with Siba, knowing first-hand how much hard work she invests in her restaurant.

A prestigious new international culinary award

 

The organizers of the World Culinary Awards say the award recognises Siba: The Restaurant’s commitment to excellence in fine dining. The winning announcement was made at a gala dinner held in Dubai on 2 October.
Speaking at the event, a delighted Siba said, “Family, we did it. South Africa, we did it. Africa, we did it”.
It’s the second year running that Siba has won this award.
Culinary professionals, media and consumers worldwide vote in the competition.

Another feather in its cap for the City

 

The Restaurant opened at the Hotel in December 2020 as a pop-up eatery. The restaurant was then launched there the following year (2021).

Over the years, Siba: The Restaurant has received multiple accolades. Here are some of them:

·Top Restaurant Award for Service Excellence from the Restaurant Association of South Africa;

Best Hotel Restaurant and the Excellence Award at the Luxe Restaurant Awards.

United Kingdom’s LUXlife Magazine named Siba – The Restaurant as Cape Town’s Most Exclusive Fine Dining Experience for 2023.

The Best in Hospitality and First Among Equals awards at the recent ’40 Under 40 Business Awards’.

Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant in Africa award at the World Culinary Awards in 2023 and now again in 2024.

Siba says the World Culinary Awards competition is very special as their guests are given a chance to vote.
She says it is thanks to their love and support that they got to bring the top prize home.
 “I am always honoured to accept this award on behalf of my team who puts in much hard work to maintain our high standards,” said chef patron Siba Mtongana.
She concluded by saying that this is what keeps guests coming back for more, and spreading the word both locally and internationally.
