Lobby group Action Society has vented its shock and outrage following the news that the convicted child killer Marius Van Der Westhuizen is once again seeking to be released on parole.
Van Der Westhuizen is former Claremont SAPS officer who murdered his three children in cold-blood back in 2006.
In what’s believed to have been a jealous fit of rage, he forced his wife to watch as he shot and killed their physically-challenged 16-year-old daughter Bianca, eight-year-old son Marius Junior, and their one-year-old baby girl Antoinette.
Action Society’s Kaylynn Palm said the mere fact that Van Der Westhuizen lodged a new parole application is audacious to say the least, as the new parole bid forces them once again to walk an emotional tightrope between the need for justice and the trauma of reliving an unspeakable loss.
“This is not just an administrative matter — it is a moral one. The fact that Van der Westhuizen is once again seeking legal leniency is disgraceful. He murdered three innocent children. His place is behind bars — not back in society.”
Action Society has called on the Department of Correctional Services and the justice system at large to firmly reject the parole bid of Marius Van Der Westhuizen.
