A young off-duty police official has been killed in Beaufort West. The body of the 23-year old was found over the weekend at a place of entertainment in the Klein Karoo town. According to police members, he was discovered with a stab wound to his back.

Sergeant Christopher Spies says police members were called out to an incident at a place of entertainment at Gaba Road, Kwa-Mandlenkosi, On Sunday, 24 August 2025 at about 00:20. That’s where they discovered the body of the deceased. He says the victim was identified as a police Constable stationed at the Beaufort West police station.

 

Various police resources deployed

Paramedics declared the officer deceased at the scene. Sergeant Spies says various police resources including K9 and Crime Intelligence were deployed, which led to the arrest of the two suspects, aged 15 and 20. He says they will appear in court once charged. Officers say circumstances surrounding the death of the police official will be probed. Spies added that the murder case docket was handed to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) for further investigation.
