A woman has been arrested with several rounds of ammunition in her possession. Cape Town Police say officers were deployed to an identified premises in Bella Court in Ottery on Tuesday, 04 June 20,25, and made the discovery during a police operation.

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says that during the search, several rounds of ammunition were found. He says the woman could not present to them a valid permit to be in possession of the ammunition.

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi added, “The endeavours of police members to create safer spaces for the communities they serve resulted in the confiscation of ammunition.”

She was subsequently taken into custody and faces a charge of unlawful possession of ammunition.

He says she will appear in court once charged. This will be the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court.

 

“Their persistence was rewarded when they searched the premises and recovered thirty rounds of ammunition hidden underneath a drawer, ” said Swartbooi.

 

Swartbooi also reiterated that this operation formed part of efforts by the authorities to combat the ongoing gang violence in Grassy Park and other areas on the Cape Flats.
