Swartbooi says when the patrol vehicle arrived at the crime scene this morning, officers were informed that two victims had been rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment as they had sustained serious injuries. He says, on arrival at the medical facility, police members discovered that the 40-year-old man had been declared deceased by medical personnel.

Rushed to hospital

The woman who was with him is still being receiving medical attention for the injuries she sustained. Manenberg Police say the unknown suspects who fled the scene are yet to be arrested.  At this stage, police believe that the motive for the attack could be related to gangs.

Swartbooi added that officers are probing a case of murder and one of attempted murder.

“We appeal to anyone who can shed light on the circumstances surrounding this incident to please call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively use the mobile application MySAPS  anonymously,” Swartbooi concluded.
