A hijacked vehicle has been recovered in Khayelitsha. According to the City’s Metro Police Department, officers were on patrol in the area yesterday morning after 11 o’clock, when they spotted the driver of a grey Audi A6, who had ignored a stop sign. When they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off.

The Metro Police’s Superintendent Ruth Solomons, says after the driver ignored a red light at Govan Mbeki and Oscar Mpetha Roads, the suspect apparently lost control of the vehicle. It then crashed into a concrete fence.

The vehicle was hijacked in Delft

 

The driver of the vehicle, along with his passenger, then evaded arrest and fled the scene. Solomons says that further investigation later revealed that the vehicle was stolen in Delft. Officers also confiscated an imitation firearm and a magazine containing blank rounds, which were inside the vehicle.
