Today marks a decade since 34 Lonmin mineworkers were killed when police opened fire on protesting mineworkers, during a wage strike. For most of families, the trauma of August 2012 has had a psychological and emotional impact. 10 people, including Lonmin mine security guards and police officers, died in the days leading (up) to the massacre. Till today, no one has been arrested. A special commemoration event will be held at the mine today.
