Proteas captain Temba Bavuma says he was surprised to find out that his fellow cricketer Quinton De Kock had refused to take the knee in their T20 World Cup clash yesterday.

He says he only discovered that he would be without the star batsman, for the crunch clash against West Indies, upon arrival at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Bavuma says De Kock declared himself unavailable for the game, just hours before the first ball was due to be bowled.
