The Western Cape Department for Finance and Economic Opportunities says the province will now focus on working even harder, to save livelihoods and jobs.
MEC at the Department, David Maynier said this in reaction to news this week that the covid-19 pandemic and the national lockdown lead to millions of job-losses in the country.
The Statistics SA Quarterly Labour Force Survey, released yesterday, also shows that the Western Cape’s unemployment rate, although the lowest in the country, now stands at 27.3-percent.
Maynier says 321,000 jobs were lost in the Western Cape in the first 3 months of the lockdown.
We call on all micro and small enterprises operating in the Western Cape, both formal and informal, to apply for the Western Cape Covid-19 Business Relief Fund. Apply before 12 October 2020 at 10h00.
