West Indies- also known as the Caribbean Boys, are currently sixth in ODIs and first in the T20I’s.
The Windies won the very first two world cups in 1975 and 1979 and were runners up in the 1983 tournament. When ODI cricket was introduced the team dominated this form of cricket with their attacking style of cricket and they are known for their big stroke play.
The squad is captained by Jason Holder with the inclusion of veteran Chris Gayle. who is considered as one of the greatest batsmen ever in T20 cricket. Gayle has set numerous records across all three formats of cricket. In February this year, Gayle announced that he will retire from ODIs after the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
The team failed to get past the quarter-finals in 2011 and 2015 but have enough tricks up their sleeves with great all-rounders in the squad.
The Islanders recently won their test series against England, and drew in the ODI’s, which could be a real confidence booster.
