Hawks Seize Massive Mandrax Haul in Hout Bay

The Hawks have arrested three suspects and confiscated mandrax tablets worth more than R10 million following an intelligence-driven operation in Hout Bay.

 

The suspects, aged between 41 and 60, were arrested on Thursday, 8 October 2026, by members of the Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) team.

 

According to the Hawks, the arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation in which two vehicles were stopped and searched.

 

During the searches, 172 000 mandrax tablets were discovered hidden inside a false compartment. The drugs are valued at more than R10 million.

 

 

 

The three suspects are expected to make their first appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 12 October 2026.
