The Bishop Lavis Community Police Forum (BLCPF) says the Valhalla Park area remains volatile following a suspected gang-related mass shooting in 8th Avenue on Wednesday night, 7 October 2026.

Police confirmed that a 34-year-old man was gunned down during the suspected gang-related shooting. Four others, aged between 23 and 34, were also wounded.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says Bishop Lavis police are investigating one count of murder and four counts of attempted murder.

“Police members attended to the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The 34-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were transported to a medical facility for treatment. According to reports, the victims were inside the house when unknown suspects entered the premises and opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related.”

CPF Chairperson Amanda Davids says there is a high SAPS visibility in the area, but Valhalla Park remains volatile.

“Valhalla Park is still volatile, but I am happy to say the community reported a high SAPS visibility. The BLCPF wants to appeal to anyone with information to come forward so the perpetrators can be arrested. We ask the community to please report any suspicious behaviour to SAPS so we can prevent these shootings.”
