Maitland Shooting: Suspects Still at Large

The search continues for the suspects involved in a shooting in which four people were injured at the corner of Coronation Road and 1st Avenue in Maitland on Thursday, 1 October 2026.

 

This happened less than 24 hours after another shooting in Mitchells Plain, where three people were fatally wounded in Lentegeur on Wednesday, while a fourth victim later succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

 

Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala says the victims sustained serious injuries in the attack and are receiving medical attention.

 

“Maitland police registered four counts of attempted murder following a shooting incident at the corners of Coronation Road and 1st Avenue on Thursday, 1 October 2026. The motive for the attack is a subject of police investigation.”

 

Maitland police have urged anyone with information to come forward as they work to establish what led to the attack.

 

“Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop anonymously on 08600 10111, alternatively utilise the MySAPS mobile application.”
