A 73-year-old woman has been found murdered inside her home in Bredasdorp, leaving her family and the local community shaken.

The woman was found deceased at her residence in Republic Street on Monday, 21 September 2026.

Police spokesperson F.C. Van Wyk has confirmed that Bredasdorp police have registered cases of murder and house robbery and are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to Van Wyk, the woman’s husband was working in the garden at the back of the property when the incident happened.

“Access to the residence was gained through a back door, which was found unlocked.”

Van Wyk says her husband later went inside to look for her and made the devastating discovery.

“Assistance was summoned, and it was subsequently established that she had been murdered and that items were missing from the residence.”

Police have not yet disclosed what items were taken from the home.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
