Grammy Award-winning R&B singer and songwriter Leon Bridges is heading to South Africa for two exclusive performances in November.

The “River” and “Coming Home” hitmaker will perform at Marks Park in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 28 November, before heading to Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden in Cape Town on Monday, 30 November.

Bridges is known for combining the sounds of classic R&B with contemporary influences. His debut album, Coming Home, earned him his first Grammy Award, with tracks including “River”, “Coming Home”, “Smooth Sailin’” and “Better Man” helping establish his signature sound.

His subsequent albums include Good Thing, Gold-Diggers Sound and Leon, with his music expanding into funk, jazz and alternative influences while retaining his R&B roots.

Bridges is also set to release his fifth studio album, Happiness Anytime, on 25 September via Columbia Records. The 12-track album is produced by J Lloyd and Lydia Kitto of British trio Jungle.

Four songs from the album are already out: “Light The Way”, “Tears of Joy”, “Illusion” and “Your Love Is Electric”.

Bridges says he has wanted to perform in South Africa for a long time and is looking forward to sharing the new music with local audiences.
