Three people have been injured in two separate suspected gang-related shooting incidents in Manenberg on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, with police investigating three counts of attempted murder.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson F.C. Van Wyk confirmed that a 39-year-old was shot and injured in the first incident at Francisca Court.
“Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the address and found the victim wounded. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the front side of his right hip and was transported to hospital for treatment.”
A few hours later, another shooting was reported on an open field next to Sabie Road and Duinefontein Road.
The incident, which occurred at around 11:25pm, left two men, aged 20 and 35, injured.
“The 20-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg, while the 35-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the right hip. Both victims were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment,” said Van Wyk.
The back-to-back shootings have prompted further police investigations, with officers working to establish what sparked the incidents.
SAPS has since urged anyone with information to assist them as their investigations continue.
“Anyone with information that could assist police in their investigation is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Van Wyk added.
