The NCC party leader, Fadiel Adams, is one of two MPs who have been suspended and had their pay docked following the outcome of a probe by Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests.

The National Assembly said on Wednesday that the sanctions were imposed on Adams after he was found to be in breach of Parliament’s Code of Ethical Conduct. This relates to him publishing personal details of a DA member on his social media. Parliament Spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, said the resolution took effect on Monday.

“Mr Adams was found to have breached the Code after publishing a Facebook post containing the personal contact details of a Democratic Alliance staff member. The post included a screenshot of an internal email and identified the staff member in relation to an objection to a parliamentary motion. The committee found that the publication improperly disclosed personal information,” said Mothapo.

Adams was reprimanded in Parliament and had to apologise. For the next 20 “parliamentary days”, he will not be able to take part in debates in the House and committee meetings. His salary and allowances have also been reduced during this time.

“On 11 June 2026, the National Assembly approved the committee’s recommendations, including the suspension of Mr Fadiel Adams of the National Coloured Congress and Mr David Mandla Skosana of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party from parliamentary debates and committee proceedings. The resolutions took effect on 3 August 2026 after the Speaker formally notified both Members on 23 June 2026 of the implementation dates,” noted Mothapo.

The other suspended MP is the MK Party’s David Skosana for contravening the Disclosure of Members’ Interests and for verbally intimidating a journalist during an interview at Parliament.

Both return to Parliament later this month, with Adams suspended from 3 August to 28 August 2026 and Skosana until 21 August 2026.
