The Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10k, taking place this Sunday, 10 May, is making amendments to its route, which will see the race finish on the Grand Parade for the first time in its 11-year history.
The new finish location means that the route will have to be reconfigured to accommodate the end stage and account for 10km in the reroute.
The first half of the race will remain the same, with the athletes setting off from Woodbridge Island in Milnerton, making their way through Paarden Island and then into the city centre via the N1 and FW De Klerk Boulevard.
Once in the city, the route will divert at the Coen Steytler Roundabout into Lower Long Street via Walter Sisulu Avenue.
The runners will head up 1,2km on Long Street, turn into Wale Street, down Adderley Street, before making a final turn onto Darling Street for a finish in front of the ‘Grand Old Dame’.
The race will set off from Woodbridge Island at 09:00.
Road Closures
Residents and motorists are asked to take note of several road closures over the weekend, in some parts of the CBD starting on Friday evening.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes.
Key roads along the route, as well as those intersecting with it, will be impacted for several hours on Sunday, 10 May.
These include:
• Marine Drive (between Loxton Road and Boundary Road)
• Marine Drive (between Boundary Road and the N1 off ramp)
• The N1 lane outbound from the Marine Drive off ramp
• Christiaan Barnard Street (between FW De Klerk Boulevard inbound and outbound)
• Heerengracht Street (between FW De Klerk Boulevard and Walter Sisulu Avenue)

The race day road closures will also have an impact on several MyCiTi routes in the CBD and on the service to Hout Bay/Hangberg. Customers are advised to visit the MyCiTi website for more information on impacted stops and deviations.
