City To Stop Sending Postal Bills After December 2025

Published on

The City of Cape Town will stop sending municipal bills by post after 31 December 2025 and will issue accounts only via email.

Customers are urged to ensure continued service by sending their account number, contact number, and email address to the City via email or SMS.

Councillor Siseko Mbandezi, Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, says nearly 517 000 Capetonians have already switched to emailed accounts, with around 200 000 still to go.

“Deadlines often come up faster than expected, so we encourage residents to act now. Simply email or SMS your account number, contact number and email address. It’s a quick and easy process that ensures your account is delivered straight to your inbox. For those without email addresses, assistance is available. Please contact the City’s Call Centre on 0860 103 089.”

The City says it is contacting those who have not yet made the switch and urges all residents to register as soon as possible to avoid disruption.
