WATCH: Tow truck brawl at Kaaimans Pass crash goes viral

Published on

A video showing a physical altercation between members of two tow truck companies at the scene of a crash on Kaaimans Pass on Sunday, 2 November, has gone viral.

In the footage, two men can be seen exchanging punches while emergency personnel attend to the accident nearby.

The crash between two heavy-duty road freight trucks resulted in Kaaimans Pass being closed for several hours, resulting in traffic being backed up past Sedgefield. The scene was only cleared late on Sunday evening.

It is not clear why the fight broke out between the two tow truck drivers, who responded to the scene.

Following the incident, Live Traffic NPC issued a stern warning to tow truck operators, condemning reckless behaviour at crash scenes.

The organisation urged drivers to prioritise safety, professionalism, and the well-being of accident victims over disputes about towing rights.

“Fighting at crash scenes and disregarding law enforcement undermines the vital service tow operators provide,” the statement read. “Your reputation and livelihood depend on restoring dignity and respect to your work.”

Live Traffic NPC added that both the public and insurance companies are watching how the industry conducts itself.
