Steenberg police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Saturday night, 6 September 2025, at about 21:20, in Horstley court.

Upon their arrival on the scene, they found the body of a 23-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

According to reports, the victim was walking with friends when he was approached by an unknown suspect who shot him.

The suspect fled the scene and has not been arrested yet.

Then on Sunday afternoon, at about 17:30, a 32-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded on the corner of Goodman Road and Joe Marks Boulevard, not far from Hortsley Court.

The motive for the attack on Sunday is believed to be gang-related. Police have not linked Saturday night’s shooting to Sunday afternoon’s murder.
