The Khayelitsha Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS) has appealed to the public to assist with the tracing and safe return of a mother and child who were reported as missing by the child’s grandmother, with whom they reside at Site B in Khayelitsha.

The mother, Thandokazi Maxongo, and her five-year-old son reportedly left home to attend an unknown church on Sunday morning, 31 August 2025, but never returned home.

Efforts by SAPS to trace them since then have been unsuccessful.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to contact Detective Captain RO McCree of the Khayelitsha FCS Unit on 021 360 2424, 082 522 3154 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
