Sea Point Police have put up a R50,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest of a man who has been linked to a murder committed in Green Point in 2018.

On Monday, 22 October 2018, the body of a 49-year-old man was discovered inside a residence at Hillside Heights in Wessels Road, Green Point. The victim sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel.

According to police, reports suggested that a security officer noticed an unknown man driving the motor vehicle of the 49-year-old deceased. The vehicle was identified as a black Audi with registration number CA 589 826.

Later that day, the security officer reportedly witnessed how the same person emerged from the flat of the deceased and decided to question the person of interest, who then fled after he threw a bag over the fence with the security officer in pursuit.

In a police statement, Warrent Officer Joseph Swartbooi said investigations into the murder revealed that Iryvine Dzitiro, a Zimbabwean national who resided in the same complex, was identified as the person of interest.

The South African Police Service has therefore offered a reward of up to R50,000 for information that will lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of Iryvine Dzitiro.

“We appeal to anyone with information to please call the investigating officer, Lt Col Andries Hlako, on 082 469 2725 or alternatively call Crime Stop on 08600 10111”, added Swartbooi
