Two Nigerians arrested for alleged Delft drug production facility

Two Nigerian nationals will appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court soon in connection with an alleged drug production facility uncovered in Delft on Tuesday.

 

According to police, officers attacked to the Anti-Economic Crimes Task Team conducted an intelligence-driven operation on Tuesday and in the process detained two Nigerian nationals for dealing in drugs.

 

Officers acted on the information at their disposal and descended on a premises believed to be a drug production facility in Delft. According to Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, officers entered the facility and discovered and confiscated 5.3 kg of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R795,000.00.

Police detained a 43-year-old Nigerian national for dealing in drugs and the contravention of the Immigration Act.

 

Swaartbooi says further investigation led the police members to an identified premises in Bellville, where they recovered methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R 135 000,00.

 

They detained a 40-year-old Nigerian woman for dealing in drugs and the contravention of the Immigration Act.

 

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville Magistrates’ court on the mentioned
