A brazen, deadly shooting has occurred at the Wynberg Magistrates court this morning. The gunmen reportedly arrived in a mini-bus taxi, made it through security and proceeded to open fire…killing a man. Western Cape Provincial Police confirmed the incident.

“Wynberg police registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident at court in Church Road, Wynberg on Tuesday, 08 April 2025. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his body and was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation and arrests are yet to be made,” said police spokesperson sergeant Wesley Twigg.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, it is still unable to confirm whether the victim was a state witness, as the matter is under investigation.

Anyone who may have information regarding the killing is requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or to use the MySAPS mobile application anonymously.
