He says this number includes a record-breaking 3 million two-way international passengers, marking a 10% rise compared to the previous year. Vos says, looking ahead, they are eager to hear from Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) about their plans to upgrade the airport, particularly to handle the growing number of aircraft operations and passenger movements.

He added that these upgrades are critical to ensuring the airport can accommodate future growth and maintain its exceptional standards.

The Mayco Member has stressed that aviation is a cornerstone of our economy. Vos says that every 100 international arrivals create 2 jobs that benefit local businesses and communities.
MMC Vos elaborated, “Breaking through the 10 million mark is a major milestone that showcases Cape Town’s growing role in global connectivity and economic growth.”
Vos says he’s excited that of the 10.4 million travellers recorded in 2024, marking a 7% increase from 2023. He says this included a record-breaking 3 million two-way international passengers, which in turn, marked a 10% hike compared to the previous year.
