An alleged female kidnapper has been arrested

Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk says a preliminary report indicates that 3 males were driving in a BMW X5 and they allegedly kidnapped a businessman in Lenasia, more than 2 months ago. They then demanded that a ransom be paid, for the release of the victim.
Van Wyk says an extensive probe commenced involving various units. These include the SAPS’ Kidnapping Team, members from Crime Intelligence, the Gauteng Hostage and Negotiation team, the Germiston Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), officers from Sedibeng Search and Rescue, SAPS Lenasia, and SAPS Evaton. Collectively, they obtained information about the suspects’ location in Sebokeng.
She says officers swarmed the identified property and found the kidnapped victim in one of the rooms. The female suspect on the scene was immediately detained. At the same time, police members discovered the body of an unidentified man, at the same premises.
Police officials say they expect more arrests. While searching the property, they confiscated 2 cellphones, which will be part of further investigations.
Van Wyk has urged communities to immediately report to their nearest police station if any of their relatives or friends fall victim to kidnappers. You can also call the SAPS Crime Stop hotline number on 08600 10111.
