The Men’s Foundation South Africa, in partnership with Build it, is participating in the “Lift for Life Event.” It’s hosted by Heat Studios in Cape Town.

The event will feature an 80-minute, 80kg deadlift challenge. Teams of three members will compete to see how many deadlifts they can complete within a specified time limit.

The organizers say that for every deadlift that is completed, Build it will donate R10 to the Men’s Foundation.

This will be in support of the organisation’s commitment to addressing men’s mental and physical health challenges. At the same time, it will also address suicide prevention in South Africa.

Here are the details of the event are provided below:

  • Date: Saturday, 30 November
  • Time: 10:30 am to 1 pm
  • Location: Heat Studios, Century City, Cape Town

There’s a growing mental health crisis in the country. Suicide has become the second leading cause of death among men aged between 15 and 44 years.

Meanwhile, the annual Brovember campaign, which is hosted by the Men’s Foundation, is dedicated to raising awareness about men’s mental and physical health issues.

Currently in South Africa, societal stigma prevents most men from seeking help in these circumstances. One of the aims of Brovember is to break the barriers.

It sets out to encourage individuals to take action and start conversations. Males can also support each other in prioritizing their well-being.
