It’s time for movies under the stars again! The 2024-2025 edition of the Galileo Open Air Cinema has opened. Movie-lovers will now be able to watch their favourite movies under the starry skies of Cape Town and in the Winelands, until May next year.

It’s time for movies under the stars again

The theme for Season 13 of the Cinema is “Galileo Under the Stars”. It commenced on 16 October 2024 and will end on 17 May 2025. There will be special shows for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter.

Gourmet snacks and refreshments will also be on sale. According to the organizers, you may bring your food and drinks into all venues except at selected wine estates.

Movie magic returns

There’s a big selection of films, from classic movies to contemporary hits across genres like romance, comedy, drama, animation, musicals, and thrillers.

Tickets start at R145 per person at Webtickets. Gates open at 6 PM on weekdays and 5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The movie will start after sunset, which will be at 8pm.

Explore new thrilling venues

The Galileo is making a grand return to Kirstenbosch Garden, Central Park in Century City, Blaauwklippen, Lourensford, Nooitgedacht, Leopard’s Leap and Glenelly. Other select wine estates in Paarl, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Kuilsriver will also host some screenings. There are also new venues in Noordhoek, Wellington, Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Paarl.

There is also a free Birthday Special.  Pensioners and Students also qualify for discounted rates. It’s time to watch your favourite films under a blanket of stars. Organizers have reminded those attending that they may bring their food and drinks into venues except at selected wine estates.

Arrive Early
At the same time, no chairs or backrests are allowed to be brought into any of their venues. It’s also recommended that you arrive early with family or friends to claim your spot on the lush lawns. The movie will commence after sunset.
