Cape Town crowned Africa’s leading City destination!

Cape Town has reaffirmed its status as a premier global destination by being named Africa’s Leading City Destination for 2024 at the prestigious World Travel Awards.

 

This marks the fourth consecutive year the city has received this honour.

 

The Port of Cape Town has also been recognized as Africa’s Leading Cruise Port, solidifying the city’s role as a key gateway to the continent.

In addition, the City boasts several luxury and eco-friendly establishments that are setting new benchmarks in African tourism.

 

Among the notable winners in the hospitality sector, Hotel Verde was awarded Africa’s Leading Green Hotel.

 

Caron van Rooyen, the hotel’s General Manager, expressed her pride in the achievement, stating,

 

“We are incredibly honoured to receive Africa’s Leading Green Hotel 2024 award. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team at Hotel Verde Cape Town in promoting sustainability and excellence in hospitality. Together, we are committed to creating a positive impact on our environment while providing our guests with an unforgettable experience.”

 

Meanwhile, the Cape Grace Hotel was awarded Africa’s Leading Luxury Hotel, and the One&Only Cape Town, was named Africa’s Leading Luxury Resort.

 

Additionally, Go2Africa, a company based at the V&A Waterfront, was recognized as Africa’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator, further showcasing the Mother City’s commitment to high-quality travel experiences.

 

Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, expressed pride in the city’s achievements:

 

“Winning Africa’s Leading City Destination 2024 for the fourth year in a row reflects the exceptional efforts made to promote Cape Town as a premier travel destination. I extend heartfelt congratulations to all our members and winners, including Hotel Verde, Cape Grace, One&Only Cape Town, Go2Africa, and the Port of Cape Town. Their achievements embody the spirit of excellence driving our tourism sector forward.”
