Political parties are all sharing their condolences and tributes following the passing of the late Tito Mboweni.
The former minister died Saturday night – at the age of 65 – after a brief illness.
Mboweni wore many hats including that of the minister of labour, finance and the country’s first black governor of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

“His life was a testament to a life lived in sacrifice, dedication, and selfless service to the people of South Africa. We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mboweni family, ANC structures and all South Africans who mourn the loss of this great man,” said Bhengu-Motsiri.
The EFF’s Leigh-Ann Mathys shared that people will Mboweni fondly for his charisma and unorthodox cooking skills:
“His pleasant personality was also evident in his social media posts, particularly when he flaunted his culinary skills. Our profound condolences to his family, friends and the African National Congress (ANC) Go well, sir,” said Mathys.
I still cannot believe that our Twitter Chef, Tito Mboweni, has passed away at only 65.
Some people just deserve to live longer. I honestly didn’t see this one coming.

“The Democratic Alliance sends its heartfelt condolences to Tata Mboweni’s family and loved ones. His passing is a profound loss for South Africa. And his contributions towards strengthening our democracy and improving the lives of all South Africans will not be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace,” said Khakhau.

“The country’s lost a great inspirational leader. He never gated the country’s finances during COVID-19 making much needed provision of the much-needed Social relief of distress grant. As South Africans, we are grateful for his service. His commitment to the country will never be forgotten. May his aloe ferox plant live on and his soul rest in peace,” added De Lille.
