Springbok fever in Cape Town ahead of second test

Published on

Excitement in the Mother City is at an all-time high, as rugby fans prepare to watch the greatest rugby rivalry…the Springboks vs the All Blacks.

Last weekend, the rugby teams faced off in Ellis Park, with SA clinching a 31-27 win. The Boks have not won the Freedom Cup since 2009. At the time, John Smit captained the team. This weekend will prove whether South Africa will lift that cup again. Khayelitsha resident, Osborne Mgxaza is bursting with enthusiasm and said there is not a chance New Zealand will be beating South Africa on its own turf.

“My expectation is for the Springboks to win again, just to show the All Blacks that we can defend the Rugby World Cup. We can eliminate them on our land. We will never let them win in our area, but tomorrow’s game is going to be a battle,” said Mgxaza.

Another Bok fan, Nigel Hendricks will be wearing his green and gold on Saturday. The Somerset West resident has been a rugby fanatic for the past 40 years.

“It’s going to be tough, very tough because in Cape Town, there are a lot of All Blacks supporters, but the Boks will win it again,” said Hendricks.
