To further accommodate spectators to the Springboks vs All Blacks rugby match on Saturday, Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has extended its train services for the occasion. The highly anticipated match is expected to draw large crowds, with the City of Cape Town also providing shuttle services to prevent major traffic congestion.

PRASA will be operating dedicated train services from all regional stations to Cape Town Station.

Travel times

The additional services will cover routes from the northern, southern, and Cape Flats regions. Notable routes include a special train from Du Toit station in Stellenbosch, departing at 12:55. There’s also two additional services from Strand, departing at 11:00 and 13:00.

From the southern region, trains will run from Fish Hoek to Cape Town at intervals of approximately an hour, starting from 09:45 and continuing until 15:00. On the Cape Flats route, additional services from Retreat will be available, with departures to Cape Town at 10:30, 11:40, and 14:15.

Train services will run at intervals of 30-40 minutes between 11:00 and 16:00, ensuring that fans have time to reach the stadium in time for the game.

Evening services from Cape Town Station to the various regional routes will resume from 20:00 to 22:00.

At the Cape Town Station, commuters will need to take a 200 metre walk to the Cape Town Civic Centre. There they can board a free MyCiTi shuttle to DHL Stadium. The shuttle service will operate from 12:30 to 21:30.

Spectators are advised to purchase their return tickets in advance and to adhere to the published schedules to avoid delays.
