One man has drowned and another is missing. This after a suspected high tide off Bloubergstrand caught them off guard, while they were fishing at Kids Rock opposite the Blue Peter Hotel.
It’s understood the pair was visiting Cape Town, from Kathu in the Northern Cape.
Their three Dachshund dogs are also missing, presumed drowned.
The National Sea Rescue Institute were alerted to the incident Tuesday evening. Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the missing man has been identified as 23-year-old Pierre Lotter:
“On arriving in the area, the 47-year-old man was found lifeless on the beach, near to the Blue Peter Hotel. Despite an extensive air, sea and shoreline search, there remains no sign of the missing man and their dogs,” Lambinon confirmed.
Two men, aged 47 and 23, along with their 3 dogs were fishing at Kid's Rock near Bloubergstrand. It's believed the high tide might have prevented them from returning to the shore.https://t.co/m80mTKgDj8

Lotter is last known to have been wearing a cream-colored shirt, and can be identified by tattoos on his inner arm.
Lambinon explained it’s suspected they had reached the rock at low tide and tried swimming across the channel when the high tide came in.
